Licences, Permits & Bylaws

The Licences, Permits & Bylaws department captures a wide range of services for citizens, including issuing permits for construction, issuing business licences, dog licences, bylaw enforcement, business licence applications and renewals, as well as records management of businesses in Maple Ridge.


Bylaw staff ensures compliance with regulations enacted by Council ranging from parking to issues of land and property use. The department administers the Dog Licence program and works with the local British Columbia SPCA to ensure compliance with animal welfare legislation.

Permit Requirements

Citizens are required to obtain permits for building, plumbing, electrical / gas construction and renovations. Staff issue these permits and inspections must be arranged to ensure that all work complies with the appropriate regulatory legislation.
