Mentorship - Leadership Development Training Program
This leadership development training is designed to prepare youth to become mentors at Thomas Haney Youth Action Park. Through training youth will gain certifications and build their skills as leaders. After a successful evaluation youth will earn an honorarium for their time spent mentoring in the action park.
GMYC Youth Council
This leadership group is made up of youth aged 12-18 whose goal is to positively promote youth in our community. With a focus on leadership development, youth will design workshops, plan special events and address social issues facing youth today. We are looking forward to new members joining us. The Youth Council meets on Tuesday nights at 7:00 pm beginning in October. New members are always welcome.

Youth Futures Programs - Children's Department
What is Youth Futures?
Be ready to enhance your leadership while challenging yourself to take on more responsibility within your community! Youth will not only volunteer in children’s summer recreation programs, but also participate in weekly classroom discussions to gain and explore your leadership qualities, work in a team environment, build fundamental skills, learn about event planning and more.
Youth Futures Programs
Note: Youth can join senior or alumni, no prerequesite required.
- Junior 13-14Y - Start and explore your leadership qualities while working in a team setting. Gain experience to build fundamental skills. Fee: $275.
- Senior 15-18Y - Expand your leadership qualities while you develop a skill set to carry on to your future endeavors. Fee: $275.
- Alumni 15-18Y - Lead and mentor the Jr and Sr Youth Futures. Alumni will be responsible for leading discussion, supporting leaders in children’s camps and event planning.
2018 Important Dates/Reminders
Parent/Youth Orientation: June 11 at 7:00 pm at Greg Moore Youth Centre.
Completed Registration Package Required: June 15 to Maple Ridge Leisure Centre.
Welcome Training: June 23, 9:30 am-3:00 pm at Greg Moore Youth Centre. (Alumni stay till 4:00 pm)
Canada Day Event: July 1, everyone will be scheduled for a shift.
Wednesday Trainings: Every Wednesday is a group training day. Location TBD.
Eco Fridays: Participants will be scheduled a minimum of three sessions.
