Youth Outreach Initiative

Youth Services in Maple Ridge is centered on the concept of the Youth Outreach Initiative (YOI). Through the YOI, Youth Services provides fun and inspiring programs because youth have a direct say in what is offered.

As a participant under the YOI, youth are encouraged to make decisions about the activities they want to do. With the support of the Youth Services staff, youth will learn to plan, develop and implement programs and activities based on their own interests and choices. The youth who have participated have found that the learning process that takes place during program preparation is just as fun and rewarding as the programs themselves.

A variety of innovative programs available are designed to create unique opportunities for youth.

Maple Ridge Youth Council

Youth can use this forum to work with others to plan social and recreational activities they want to see offered. Whether they are movie nights, rock climbing trips, camping or dances, it's the perfect opportunity to see an idea come to life! Youth Council operates fundraisers throughout the year such as concessions, raffles and car washes in order to offset the costs of their programs.

This is a great way for youth looking to build their leadership skills and to gain work experience while having a load of fun planning their next experience. Youth Council meets Tuesdays from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Greg Moore Youth Centre.

Men Making A Difference (M2AD)

This is an opportunity for the boys aged 13-18, to get together and determine their own activities in a positive and casual environment. M2AD meets Saturdays from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Greg Moore Centre.

Women in Action

Girls between the ages of 12-18 are invited to participate in a fun evening with their female friends promoting healthy lifestyles. Women in Action meet Mondays from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Greg Moore Centre.
