Committees of Council
The Mayor and Council are appointed to serve as Directors, Liaisons or Delegates to a number of agencies representing different levels of government, committees of Council and external community groups. Information pertaining to the guidelines for appointments and the roles and responsibilities of appointees can be found in Council Policy 3.10.
Committee and Commission Appointments
Standing Committees
Standing committees are established by the Mayor for matters considered best dealt with by the committee. At least half the members of a standing committee must be Council members.
The Audit and Finance Committee reviews the financial statement and report, ensures that appropriate systems of internal control are implemented and that the information in the City's annual report is accurate, complete and fairly presents the financial position.

Community Development & Enterprise Services Committee
The Community Development & Enterprise Services Committee was established to develop strategies to diversify the City's revenue sources through attracting investment in non-residential property tax classes, generating non-property-tax revenues, and creating the conditions necessary to attract high-value local jobs.

Select Committees / Commissions
Select committees and commissions are established by the Council to consider or inquire into any matter and to report its findings and opinions to Council. At least one member of a select committee or commission must be a Council member.
The Agricultural Advisory Committee mandate is the continued support of agriculture as a land use and economic activity within the community.

The Community Heritage Commission advises Council on matters relating to heritage conservation.

The Economic Development Committee is an advisory body on matters relating to the economic development of the City.

The Environmental Advisory Committee will help provide local perspective and advice to Council with respect to achieving the City's goals, environmental objectives and accompanying strategic recommendations and directions taken from the current Maple Ridge Official Community Plan and Environmental Management Strategy report, 2014.

The Municipal Advisory Committee on Accessibility & Inclusiveness advises Council on civic matters which affect people with disabilities.

Beginning in 2021 the Parks, Recreation and Culture Advisory Committee will advise Council on the enhancement of parks, recreation and culture to deliver services and programs that best meet the needs of present and future residents.

The Public Art Steering Committee recommends criteria for the commission of public art installations to Maple Ridge Council.

The Social Policy Advisory Committee advises Council on matters relating to social planning and the social needs, social well-being and social development of the community.

The Transportation Advisory Committee is appointed for the purpose of advising Council on strategic priorities, planning, policies and mobility issues relating to transportation in Maple Ridge, using the Transportation Plan as a guide.

Statutory Committees
The Parcel Tax Roll Review Panel is established pursuant to Section 204 of the Community Charter. It was formerly known as the Court of Revision or Frontage Tax.

Outside Agency Appointments
Members of the Council serve as a link between community organizations and the City.
The Alouette River Management Society is involved in almost all aspects of watershed stewardship, including education, inventory and monitoring, habitat restoration and lobbying for the protection of aquatic habitat. They are extremely active in the community and often attend private properties in order to assist landowners with the implementation of sound stewardship practices on their land.

The Research Forest Community Advisory Board is comprised of community groups and government organizations and is mandated to offer suggestions and recommend policies to the Malcolm Knapp Research Forest, interpret a variety of viewpoints, build a broader base of community involvement, educate outsiders to the UBC community and explore possibilities for cooperative research.

As a non-profit society governed by a volunteer board of directors, the Maple Ridge / Pitt Meadows Arts Council is dedicated to promoting and encouraging appreciation for the arts.

The Maple Ridge Youth Planning Table is a committee made up of executive members and members at large that are focused on achieving the goals outlined in the Maple Ridge Youth Strategy through collaboration with youth, their families and local agencies to foster a community that supports and engages youth in nurturing their mental, social and physical health and well being.

The Pitt Meadows Airport Society owns and operates the Pitt Meadows Regional Airport which is the only Fraser Valley aerodrome located on the north side of the Fraser River serving fixed wing and fresh water float operators. It serves the area north of the Fraser River from Mission up to and including Vancouver.

The Metro Vancouver Regional District is a partnership of 21 member municipalities, one treaty first nation and one electoral area that serves as a collective voice and a decision-making body on a variety of issues.

The Mayors' Council is composed of the 21 mayors in Metro Vancouver, the Chief of the Tsawwassen First Nation and the elected representative of Electoral "A". The Mayors' Council approves long-term transportation strategies (≥ 30 years), 10-year transportation investment plans, first-time short-term fares and short-term fare increases (increases in short-term fares (i.e. passes shorter than 3 days in duration) beyond two per cent per year, based on April 1, 2008 fares, changes in customer satisfaction survey processes, changes in customer complaint processes oversees sale of major facilities and assets, variations in TransLink director compensation levels and TransLink's Executive Compensation Plan.
