The Engineering Department maintains and enhances the quality of life for those who live and work in Maple Ridge through the provision of sustainable City services, including transportation, sanitary sewers, drainage systems and water supply. The department is responsible for the sustainable planning and construction of new City services as well as maintenance or replacement of existing infrastructure to support the ongoing growth within Maple Ridge. These duties include the planning, design and construction of City capital projects, infrastructure management and renewal, transportation and traffic management and City services for land development.
Section 938 of the Local Government Act enables the City of Maple Ridge to regulate the requirements for the provision of engineering works and services in conjunction with the subdivision and development of land. On that basis, the City established Maple Ridge Subdivision and Development Servicing Bylaw 4800 - 1993, to identify the level of servicing required and standards for design and construction.
The Engineering Department implemented the Master Municipal Construction Documents (MMCD) and has adopted the Design and Construction Documents for use on infrastructure projects to reflect the City’s requirements.
The Design and Construction Documents are also incorporated into the Land Development process.
