Honour Guard

The Maple Ridge Fire Department Honour Guard was founded in the winter of 1996, as a result of attending a funeral for a Fire Chief who died in the line of duty. As with many Fire Departments, the events of September 11, 2001 made the Honour Guard a prominent volunteer component within the fire service.

Since then, the Honour Guard has been able to continue to grow in numbers and abilities. They have participated in parades and community events, municipal ceremonies and especially with the Royal Canadian Legion Remembrance Day Ceremony. Today, we have approximately 20 trained Honour Guard firefighters.

We are a strong supporter of the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation (CFFF) and have operated with them in line of duty death (LODD) funerals throughout the Province of British Columbia.
