Corisa Bell

"So much of politics in general seems to involve a battle between left and right ideology. I'd like to see Maple Ridge move toward a centralist view, composed of compromise and reason, for the benefit of the people. I think like a citizen and will represent the citizens."

Born in Northern British Columbia, Corisa moved to the Fraser Valley after graduating high school, returning to her roots in Maple Ridge to raise a family as a sixth-generation resident. She couldn't be more proud of her two girls! Corisa's success in the web development/software business has allowed her the hours required to serve on Council full-time thus far.

You'll frequently find Corisa volunteering and devoting time to functions and events throughout the city. Working on council is a natural progression of her civic involvement, allowing her to both serve and better the community. She has served on many boards in the past, including Fight HST, and 3 years as Strata President for her 105 unit townhouse complex. Her current portfolios include:

  • Audit and Finance Committee
  • Fraser Valley Regional Library Board
  • Lower Mainland Local Government Association (LMLGA) - Past President
  • Maple Ridge Arts Council
  • Mayors Open Government Task Force
  • Metro Vancouver - Performance and Procurement
  • Parcel Tax Review Panel
  • Ridge Meadows Seniors Society
  • Seniors' Network
Alternate for:
  • Public Art Steering Committee
Public Organization Commitments:
Corisa believes the role of government is to be accountable to the people and to that end she will continue to represent the voice of Maple Ridge residents and work to direct the functioning of the government to serve the those who elect it.

Passionate, dedicated, and committed to everything she takes on in her life, Corisa will she brings her high level of energy, expertise and experience to council.

Corisa embodies the following quote stating, “I love this quote. It isn’t just a reflection of our physical environment, it also refers to a responsibility we have to ensure how our society will function long term. Our choices affect future generations on so many levels. We cannot continue to think and act in a singular fashion, and the time for change is long overdue.”

We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our Children. - Wendell Berry
