As of 12:00 pm on Friday, July 7, 2017, there is a total fire ban in effect in the City of Maple Ridge.
As per Chief Exner:
Effective immediately, the City of Maple Ridge Fire Department is issuing a TOTAL BAN on outdoor burning within the City. This ban is in response to current weather patterns trending towards increased temperatures and decreased precipitation. This ban will remain in effect until further notice. This ban is put in force in accordance with the Maple Ridge Outdoor Burning Regulation Bylaw No. 5535-1997.
During a fire ban, you may only use CSA-rated or ULC-rated cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes, or to a portable apparatus that uses briquettes, liquid or gaseous fuel, as long as the height of the flame is less than 15 cm.
