  2. National Aboriginal Day Celebration

Traditional dance, music and ceremonial blessings, a Bannock cook-off, a Farmers Market, community displays, indigenous games, crafts and interactive activities bring people of all ages together for an exciting community gathering.

    Photography, Mixed Media Installation (June 23, 2018 –July 28, 2018) As part of its commitment to youthful, emerging artists, The ACT Art Gallery occasionally commissions site-specific works that allow for some thematic connection with the community of Maple Ridge. This year, Aimée Henny Brown will be creating a new work based on her research on the area’s natural and documented history, culminating in an installation in The ACT Gallery. Aimée’s artistic practice engages archives, research and printed matter to place historical content within her contemporary visual art practice. She has received several awards and grants, notably the Joseph Beuys Scholarship for Artistic Merit and several Canada Council Production Grants.
