Lawn Watering Permit Requirements

New Lawns


If you have planted a new lawn during water regulations (May 1 – October 15) and the lawn has not yet established, you can request a temporary Lawn Watering Permit from the City.
  • Cost is $30 for a single family dwelling or non-residential property and an additional $30 for each dwelling units in a multiple residential development to a maximum of $150.
  • Permits are valid for three weeks (21 days) from the permit issue date and only apply to the new lawn area.
  • Watering is permitted daily 4:00 am to 9:00 am for residential properties and 1:00 am to 6:00 am for non-residential properties.
  • Permits can be renewed one time for the above stated fees.

European Chafer Beetle Control


When treating your lawn with nematodes to control European Chafer Beetle (PDF), your lawn should be as moist as a wrung-out sponge. The amount of water needed will depend on your lawn, soil depth, and weather conditions. If you need more water than provided under the watering regulations, you can request a temporary Lawn Watering Permit from the City.
  • There is no cost for a permit for nematode treatment.
  • Permits are valid for three weeks (21 days) from the permit issue date and only apply to treatment area.
  • Watering is permitted daily 4:00 am to 9:00 am for residential properties and 1:00 am to 6:00 am for non-residential properties.
  • Permits cannot be renewed.

  • Apply in person at the Engineering Counter at City Hall or email Engineering an Application Form (PDF) (please note that online applications may take up to 5 business days to process).
  • You must provide a current dated receipt for lawn seed, sod, turf, or nematode treatment.
