Dewdney Trunk Rd and 227 St Watermain Replacements

The City is planning to replace the watermain on Dewdney Trunk Road (DTR) from Edge Street to 228 Street and on 227 Street from DTR to 121 Avenue. The work generally consists of installation of approximately 310m of 300mm Ductile Iron (DI) watermain on DTR and replacement of 235m of 250mm DI watermain on 227 Street north of DTR, tie-in of existing service connections, installation of new fire hydrants, installation of fibre optic ducting on the existing watermain and surface restorations.

The project is currently being tendered and will close on  June 20. Construction will start in mid-July and is anticipated to be completed in 12 weeks, weather permitting. DTR will maintain two westbound travel lanes, with one eastbound lane from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM and two eastbound lanes, with one westbound lane from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Mondays thru Fridays, during construction. All travel lanes will be reinstated after working hours. Once Council Approval to award the contract is received,  City staff will contact  property owners and businesses directly impacted by the project to discuss what to expect during construction, and anticipated schedule of water service interruption for transfers and traffic disruptions.
