The City of Maple Ridge plans to improve pedestrian and cycling facilities on 117 Avenue from 207 Street to Laity Street and on Laity Street from 117 Avenue to Lougheed Highway by providing a 3.0m multi-use path. The multi-use path will create a safe and inviting pedestrian and cycling facility on 117 Avenue and Laity Street.
The scope of work includes the design and construction of the asphalt multi-use path, streetlights and traffic calming features. The pathway will be located on the south side of 117 Avenue and on the east side of Laity Street, which will connect to the existing multi-use path on Lougheed Highway.
The City of Maple Ridge held a 'Virtual Information Session' on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, to discuss the safety analysis results and the changes made to the design. You can view the presentation slides from the eventhere. Upon feedback received at the Open House, the City will implement a sidewalk from Camwood Park to the nearest intersection and incorporate additional north/south crossings throughout 117 Avenue to facilitate ease of pedestrian movement.
Aplin & Martin Consultants Ltd. was awarded the contract for the detailed design and is anticipated to tender the works for construction in 2022.
