Fairgrounds Sewage Lift Station Re-Routing

The City is planning to re-route the sewage flows from the Fairgrounds Sewage Lift Station, located at 23588 Jim Robson Way (JRW), with the installation of a new sanitary forcemain. Currently the flows from the Fairgrounds Lift Station are pumped north to the Tamarack Lane Sewage Lift Station then pumped again to the River Road Trunk Sewage Main. With a new forcemain the flows will be pumped directly to the trunk main on River Road, thus reducing the pumping frequency, size of the pumps and storage requirements of the Tamarack Lane Lift Station.

The new forcemain will cross under Lougheed Highway and the CP Railway Tracks which requires a casing pipe to be installed via “jack and boring” trenchless directional drilling. The City has retained WSP Canada Ltd. to prepare the preliminary and detailed design drawings, complete the applications to the Ministry of Transportation (MoTI) and CP Rail for crossing permits and assist in the preparation of tender documents.  Permitting has been approved for the crossing applications, and an Invitation to Tender will be issued in early 2022 and construction will follow.
