Come out and get to know your neighbours this summer!
Creating connected and vibrant neighbourhoods is a key priority for the City. One of the best ways for us to be engaged and healthy is to get together to celebrate our community and meet our neighbours. These connections help promote neighbourhood safety, build a sense of community and belonging and are a ton of fun.
The City is presenting a series of events under the umbrella called Hi Neighbour.
Whether it’s at one of the new Rock the Block events, the Hot Summer Night gatherings hosted by the Maple Ridge Fire Department, Movies in the Park or the many concerts and community celebrations this summer, the summer of 2023 is packed with free family friendly events to help you connect with your community.
Rock the Block
Rock the Block is a series of gatherings encouraging residents to connect and socialize in their neighbourhood! Featuring music, games and creative expression, Rock the Block is a pilot program being run by the City in 2023
For this year the City has chosen the neighbourhoods of Albion, Hammond and Haney as locations for these celebrations, and will provide opportunities for residents to request locations for next year’s Rock the Block series. Each event runs 6 to 9 p.m. and is followed by a Movies in the Park screening at sunset.

Hot Summer Nights
CANCELLED | The Hot Summer Nights events planned for the rest of August have been cancelled due to the Stage 2 Water Restrictions that are being enacted in the Metro Vancouver Region. The Fire Department joins other City Departments in supporting the local and regional efforts to conserve our drinking water supply through this dry summer. Thank you for your support and stay safe.
The Annual Hot Summer Nights neighbourhood visits hosted by the Maple Ridge Fire Department are part of the summer traditions in our City. The firefighters arrive at the venue at approximately 6:00 pm and set up the hoses to cool off the kids. It’s a great opportunity to meet your firefighters, learn important information on fire safety and connect with your neighbours.
