City of Pitt Meadows
Our immediate neighbour to the west is known as the "Gateway to the Fraser Valley." A dynamic community, Pitt Meadows' existing population is estimated at over 18,000 residents. With over 85% of the land in the British Columbia Agricultural Land Reserve, Pitt Meadows consists of some of the richest agricultural land in Canada, generating significant value from dairy production, cranberries, blueberries, nursery stock and greenhouse crops.
Pitt Meadows' magnificent landscape combines farms, forests, lakes and mountains. It draws hundreds of thousands of visitors each year and provides a scenic backdrop for many film and television productions. Pitt Meadows also boasts some of the best golf courses in the country and is full of trails, parks and mountain vistas.
District of Mission
Our neighbour (26 kilometres east of Maple Ridge) is nestled on a southern coastal mountain slope overlooking the lush valley of the mighty Fraser River. A rapidly growing and dynamic centre with a population estimated at 36,000 residents, Mission is surrounded by the incredible beauty of mountainous vistas and natural forest settings.
Having a unique heritage, Mission is the site of Canada's first train robbery, British Columbia's first rail link to the United States, one of the earliest hydroelectric dams and Fraser River bridges, and is also home to the oldest known First Nations' archaeological site in British Columbia.
Township of Langley
Our neighbour to the south over the Golden Ears bridge is known as the "Birthplace of British Columbia." Agriculture and farming play an integral role in this community of approximately 104,000 residents, with 75% of the township located within the British Columbia Agricultural Land Reserve.
Although Langley is home to half the farms in Metro Vancouver, the six unique, distinct communities provide a number of conveniences and amenities such as movie theatres, playhouses, restaurants, pubs and clubs. Shoppers enjoy many retail destinations and fans of sports can attend their favourite event at the Langley Events Centre.
