Voter Information

Resident Electors

You may vote as a resident elector if you:
  • are 18 years of age or more on general voting day (October 15, 2022)
  • are a Canadian citizen
  • have lived in British Columbia for at least six months before you register to vote
  • are a resident of Maple Ridge
  • have not been disqualified from voting by any statute or law

Voters List

The City of Maple Ridge will use the Province of British Columbia's Voters List as its list of electors. To register to vote or to check your current voter registration status please visit Elections BC.

If you are not on the list you may register at the time of voting by providing 2 pieces of identification to the election official, at least one of which must contain your signature. If at least one of your documents does not provide evidence of your place of residency, you must sign a solemn declaration as to your place of residence. If you do not comply with these requirements, you will not be registered to vote. Review our list of acceptable forms of identification.


Acceptable Identification Documents when Registering to Vote 

The following documents only will be accepted for identification:

  • British Columbia Identification Card
  • Owner's Certificate of Insurance and Vehicle Licence issued by ICBC
  • British Columbia CareCard or Gold CareCard (if separate from Driver's Licence)
  • British Columbia Services Card
  • Ministry of Social Development Request for Continued Assistance form SDES8
  • Social Insurance Card issued by Human Resources Development Canada
  • Citizenship Card issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada
  • real property tax notice 
  • Shelter Letter (form CMR-AP22)
  • credit card or debit card
  • utility bill (electricity, natural gas, water, telephone services or cable)

Property Electors

You may vote as a non-resident elector if you:

  • are not a resident of Maple Ridge
  • are 18 years of age or more on general voting day (October 15, 2022)
  • are a Canadian Citizen
  • have lived in British Columbia for at least six months before you register to vote
  • are a registered owner of real property in Maple Ridge for at least 30 days immediately before the day of registering (either as joint tenants or tenants in common, and not holding the property in trust for a corporation or another trust)
  • have not been disqualified from voting by any statute or law
If more than one person owns the property, only one owner may register and that person must have the written consent of a majority of the other owners. Note the property must be in the name(s) of individuals and not in the name of a company. A person may only register in relation to one property in Maple Ridge.
