Alert: BC Hydro has issued the following information. Alouette Lake is reaching the freecrest level of the Alouette Dam. As this happens BC Hydro will be required to move from a controlled release of water, which began yesterday afternoon to an uncontrolled release due to the increasing water level of Alouette Lake as the rainfall continues into this afternoon. The water flow will start to increase from around noon today and is anticipated to peak by late Monday evening.
People living downriver of the Alouette Dam should have emergency preparedness plans in place and be ready to self-evacuate if required. All residents need to stay away from the bank of the South Alouette River as flow levels will high. Please share this information with friends and family who live along this section of the Alouette River.
