[ARCHIVED] Cur-side patio survey

patio survey_spotlight

In the spring of 2020, the Provincial government worked with the hospitality industry and municipalities to develop a program that allowed restaurants, cafes and craft breweries to operate curb-side patios in order to offset the effects of pandemic related restrictions. Curb-side patios are patios placed in the on-street parking spot in front restaurants, cafes and craft breweries.

There are currently four curb-side patios operating in Maple Ridge, all on 224 Street. These patios are regulated through Building permits and annual Highway Use Permits covering their construction, operation, maintenance and insurance. These patios are located directly in front of each business, contained within each businesses’ frontage, and are approximately the size of a single parking spot. The City is currently waiving all fees for curb-side patios.

As pandemic related restrictions have begun to ease, the City has received concerns from neighbouring businesses that curb-side patios are negatively impacting their businesses by reducing the overall number of parking spots in the area. The City of Maple Ridge is looking for feedback from businesses and residents on future directions for curb-side patios in the Town Centre, specifically the curb-side patios located on 224 Street.

Participate in the survey here.

Survey closes April 4th, 2022.
