[ARCHIVED] BC Hydro to Release Water from Alouette Dam on Friday, November 28

Due to the high rainfall amount in recent weeks and forecasts of more rains in the upcoming weather forecast window, BC Hydro has alerted the City of Maple Ridge that they will be doing a release of water into the South Alouette River starting at approximately11:00 am on Friday, November 28, 2014.

Their advisory indicates that the spill will be approximately 42.5 cubic metres per second and indicate that ‘bankful conditions are possible.’

City of Maple Ridge staff will be monitoring conditions along the South Alouette and remind all citizens living or engaged in recreation along the South Alouette to be aware of the potential for high and rapid water flow and refrain from getting too close to the water. Citizens who have property along the south Alouette are advised to monitor their properties closely during the day.

If citizens have any questions about the water release they can contact the BC Hydro Reservoir Information Line at 604-462-5409. If citizens spot any problems please contact our Operations Centre at 604-463-9581.
