BEAT THE HEAT
With high temperatures in the forecast for this weekend, we're reminding residents to be prepared and stay cool. Here are some tips to beat the heat:
π§ Stay hydrated – drink lots of water
π Never leave children or pets on their own in a vehicle, as temperatures can rise quickly.
β Stay cool in air-conditioned buildings such as the Maple Ridge Leisure Centre, Albion Community Centre, library and local malls.
β Limit the amount of time outdoors between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm when the heat and sun are most intense.
π§ Take a splash in our water parks which are now open.
π Check in on neighbors, family, and friends that need help.
π Dress accordingly by wearing light coloured, loose clothing to cover your skin and a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses.
π Avoid demanding physical work or exercise in the heat.
π Keep your home cool by closing shades, opening windows at night and using an air conditioner if you have one.
