Maple Ridge Fire Department Issues Fireworks Warning

Maple Ridge, BC: The Maple Ridge Fire department also reminds citizens that there is a total ban on the sale or explosion of fireworks year-round in the City of Maple Ridge. Fireworks continue to be a risk to personal injury and a fire hazard in our community. We have attended house fires in the past that were the result from the misuse of fireworks. Fireworks are not harmless fun.

The Fire Department will be patrolling the community on Canada Day and issuing fines as much as $1000 for violations under the Maple Ridge Fireworks By-law No. 6279 – 2004. For information on the Fireworks Bylaw please go to the City website at mapleridge.ca/2553.

This week the Fire Department elevated the Fire Risk from low to high, and the expectation is that the continued hot and dry weather will result in a further elevation of the fire risk to the ‘extreme’ level for our community and the region.
