Maple Ridge Fire Department Issues Total Fire Ban

Maple Ridge, BC: The Maple Ridge Fire Department has issued notice that a complete Fire Ban that will take effect on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 12:00pm noon. No fires, including campfires will be permitted in Maple Ridge. The “TOTAL FIRE BAN” does not include the use of CSA-rated or ULC-rated barbeques, camping type stoves or portable campfire apparatus using camping gas, natural gas/propane, or briquette barbeques, on your property.

Please remember the occasional rain we receive may only temporarily reduces the wildfire/fire hazard a small amount, but the hazard will rapidly increase a short time afterwards. The “TOTAL FIRE BAN” will remain in place until September 13 or until the “TOTAL FIRE BAN” is removed by the fire department. Any person found in contravention of the fire ban will be liable to a fine up to $1000.00.

This week the Fire Department elevated the Fire Risk from low to high, and the expectation is that the continued hot and dry weather will result in a further elevation of the fire risk to the ‘extreme’ level for our community and the region.
