Road and Weather Update: City crews have closed 224 Street from 132 Ave north to 144 Avenue and 132 Avenue from Park Lane east to 232 Street due to water accumulations on the road surface. Flaggers are on location to divert traffic. Please follow their directions. Crews continue to deal with calls for service and are monitoring conditions around the community.
Drive BC reports that the Lougheed Highway has been closed from 240 Street to 272 Street. Please avoid the area until the province updates that closure
The Rainfall Warning remains in effect for the region and heavy rains will continue into the early afternoon. The North Alouette River is at a very high flow rate and level due to the heavy rainfall and the snow melt due to the rising freezing level. BC Hydro continues their controlled release from the Alouette Reservoir to address the rainfall accumulations. City crews are monitoring levels on the Alouette and Kanaka waterways. Please refrain from any recreational activity on or near local waterways during this storm event.
Sand and sandbags are available at the 232 Street parking lot at maple Ridge park adjacent to the South Alouette Bridge. Sand and sandbags have also been deployed to the parking lot at the Hammond outdoor Pool (20601 Westfield Avenue).
