As of March 17 all MRLC memberships were frozen due to COVID-19. Membership pass holders have the option to unfreeze or continue to freeze their account. Members can choose what registration method works best for them – either pay-as-you-go or using their MRLC membership.
No. Pass holders are not required to use their memberships. You have the option to pay-as-you-go for registration. Be aware that if you have chose to unfreeze your account, you cannot refreeze it.
To ensure the safety of patrons, staff and our community registration for Group Fitness (land and water) is mandatory. Registration allows us to track who is in our building and when and to ensure maximum participation numbers are monitored. Controlling the access to a building/facility is a recommendation of the Provincial Health Officer and Worksafe BC.

In addition to the measures taken above, there is increased COVID-19 related signage in our classes to ensure that all participants are informed on signs, symptoms and risks of participating during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Please come prepared to work out. We ask that you bring minimal items with you. There will be no access to lockers, cubbies, or water fountains (bottle filling stations are open). If you need to bring a bag, keep it small. Please bring a yoga mat for yoga classes and/or a towel for floor exercises.
Because of the environment, we will have limited change facilities available for use after your class. Please come with your swimwear underneath clothing that can be quickly changed out of on the deck. Change facilities will be available after your class only.
All group fitness classes will take place inside of the Maple Ridge Leisure Centre. For Group Fitness please wait outside of the front doors of the Maple Ridge Leisure Centre in the “Fitness” line-up. For Aqua-fit please line up in the Pool line-up. A staff member will welcome you in.
Participants should arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to their registered fitness class.
Users are required to wear a mask upon entry, while travelling to the program space, in the lobby and common hallways, washrooms and when exiting the facility. Masks are encouraged but not required when participating in physical activity except when in the pool. In other words, please do not wear your mask in the water.
If you notice another patron who is not following physical distancing rules or who may be displaying symptoms of COVID-19, please notify your Fitness Instructor.
If a patron is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, PRC staff will ask that they do not attend the class and self-isolate for the recommended 14 days. A note will be made on the users account and they will be unable to register for any timeslots until their self-isolation is over.
All programs are by registration only. Should a patron or a participant leave a program due to illness, staff will make a note on their file and remove their registration access to any programs for the recommended 14 days.
At the time of registration, patrons are aware and have acknowledged that at the time of participation they are symptom free.
Before participating in any PRC program we ask that all participants perform a self-assessment. At this time they will answer a series of questions. Do I have a fever? Do I have a cough? Have I been exposed to COVID-19? Etc. If a patron answers yes to any of these questions they will be required to leave the area.
The City will support Public Health in communicating community transmission occurrences.
