City of Maple Ridge Takes Home Multiple International Marketing Awards for Bold Rebrand

Maple Ridge, B.C., November 6, 2024 – The City of Maple Ridge’s rebranding strategy has captured international attention, winning multiple accolades at the 2024 MarCom Awards and earning significant recognition for its municipal marketing excellence. 

Founded in 2004, the MarCom Awards is one of the world’s largest creative competitions, celebrating achievement in marketing and communication. Out of over 6,500 entries from the United States, Canada, and 43 other countries, the City of Maple Ridge’s innovative rebranding initiative earned a Gold MarCom Award in the Branding category.

These awards show the City’s commitment to creating a vibrant and meaningful identity that communicates Maple Ridge’s appeal to residents, visitors and investors. 

“We’re thrilled that our bold brand strategy has gained international recognition, showcasing the essence of Maple Ridge and our bright future,” said Mayor Ruimy. “These awards demonstrate the dedication of our community, Council, staff and partners to create a bold vision of a community built on inclusivity, growth and a vibrant sense of place.” 

First launched in October 2023, the Maple Ridge brand strategy features the city’s strong connection to nature, its significant growth potential, and its dynamic and inclusive community spirit. This rebrand marked a vital transformation for the city, including a modernized logo, bold visual elements, and a compelling brand story celebrating Maple Ridge’s ambitious vision for the future. 

 

Strategic Launch & Lasting Impact 

The City’s rebranding was strategically launched with key milestones and continues to support Maple Ridge’s economic development, tourism, and community engagement goals. The brand has been widely implemented across the City using a phased approach — from digital platforms to City vehicles, apparel, publications, and signage. It was also prominently displayed at key community events, including the 2024 BC Summer Games and Our Neck Of The Woods, as the City welcomed thousands to Maple Ridge. 

“Receiving these MarCom Awards is a tremendous honour for our team and the entire community,” said Zvi Lifshiz, Director of Strategic Development, Communications and Public Engagement. “From our 150th-anniversary celebrations to the new and now award-winning gateway signs, this brand tells our story and sets the tone for the next chapter of growth and opportunity for Maple Ridge.”

The rebranding process involved extensive public engagement, with feedback from residents, local businesses, and community groups shaping the final identity. Three core brand pillars emerged:

  • Driven by Community: Showcasing the City’s inclusiveness and volunteerism. 
  • City on the Move: Reflecting the City’s economic growth and future aspirations.
