Departments

  1. Administration

    The liaison between Council and staff and provides overall leadership and direction for the administration.

  2. Clerk's

    Responsible for agenda preparation, recording of official minutes, administration and certification of bylaws, the execution of all legal documentation, administration of the Records Management Program, compliance with Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy legislation and elections.

  3. Communications

    Provides advice and assistance to Council and staff, disseminates timely and accurate information, develops communications strategies, advertises and promotes programs and events.

  4. Economic Development

    The City of Maple Ridge’s Economic Development Department assists both existing business owners and entrepreneurs interested in starting new businesses with information on business planning and expansion opportunities, and connects them with business and industry groups to develop strategic alliances and new economic opportunities.

  5. Emergency Services

    Keeping the community, its citizens and its visitors safe is an important priority in Maple Ridge. Together, agencies like the police, fire, ambulance and search and rescue work hard to ensure that this goal is met.

  6. Engineering

    Maintains and enhances the quality of life for those who live and work in Maple Ridge through the provision of sustainable City services, including transportation, sanitary sewers, drainage systems and water supply.

  7. Finance / Property Taxes

    Collects property taxes, utilities and issues business and dog licences. Also prepares and monitors financial plans and statements, conducts internal audits and processes accounts payable and accounts receivable.

  8. Fire & Rescue

    The Fire Department is responsible for the protection and preservation of life, property and the environment in Maple Ridge.

  9. Human Resources

    Provides a comprehensive series of services to full and part-time staff members including recruitment, employee development, benefits, programs and training.

  10. Information Technology

    Responsible for managing corporate computer systems, data resources and technology infrastructure.

  11. Licences, Permits & Bylaws

    Provides a wide range of services for citizens, including issuing permits for construction, issuing business licences, dog licences, bylaw enforcement, business licence applications and renewals, as well as records management of businesses in Maple Ridge.

  12. Operations

    Front-line provider for basic public works services, including the management of the facilities and fleet, municipal procurement, stormwater management, water distribution and sewage disposal.

  13. Parks, Recreation & Culture

    Register for recreation programs, view schedules, reserve facilities, submit a local event and check out the wonderful parks.

  14. Planning

    Responsible for pursuing Council's direction in land use policy creation, management of a variety of development applications and environmental policy and enforcement.

  15. Police Services

    The Ridge Meadows Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) detachment is responsible for policing in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

  16. Purchasing

    Responsible for implementation of the purchasing policy, competitive bidding, municipal stores, participation in public sector cooperative groups and administration of the purchasing card program.

  17. Sustainability & Corporate Planning

    Helps guide the organization and the community to a more sustainable future by ensuring strategic alignment throughout the organization. Within this framework are activities such as corporate-wide business planning, performance measurement and reporting. Projects, research and policy development of a corporate-wide nature are also undertaken.
