  1. Modern Legends Group First Nations Show

    September 19, 2017, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM @ The ACT Art Gallery

Contemporary First Nations artists, Sonny Assu, Corey Moraes, Carrielynn Victor, and Brandon Gabriel all feature an intriguing blend of traditional and contemporary storytelling in their artwork. Ensuring that ‘truth’ is recognized as the prelude to reconciliation, these artists render comic-book characters, super heroes, mythical beings and graffiti-inspired narratives as a critical and often humourous means of sharing both their personal and ancestral Modern Legends. Opening Reception Saturday, September 9th from 2:00 pm–4:00 pm Free Event Funding for this exhibition was provided in part by the Government of Canada with addition support from the City of Maple Ridge and the Maple Ridge & Pitt Meadows News.
