We're making the building and development process faster, simpler, and more predictable with better systems, digital processes, and collaboration.
Moving to a paperless process takes you from application to approval, quicker than ever, helping you move from planning to building and turning ideas into reality.
Our current processes are complex, duplicative and in need of modernization. This can create significant delays to project approvals which are barriers to the economic, housing, and infrastructure growth our city needs.
Improved and efficient processes means a better customer experience. This makes our city more attractive for businesses to invest and develop here, stimulating growth and improved liveability.
We have an ambitious provincially designated housing growth target of 3965 new homes by June 2029! An improved process will help us meet this target.

The Development Services Optimization team is making permits easier than ever!
New Home Permits: now available to apply online. Apply, track, and get approvals anytime, anywhere, no City Hall trip needed.

What We've Accomplished So Far
We've launched a new portal for New Home and Tenant Improvement building permits. Applicants can now apply, upload documents, and track their permit's progress anytime, from anywhere.
Secure online payment options are now available for permits and applications, up to $6000.00, saving time and eliminating trips to City Hall.
New tools like cloud-based storage, integrated plan review, and updated forms are helping move applications through the process more efficiently.
Our new target is to complete the processing of applications within 12 weeks, provided all submissions are complete upon initial submission. Please note that the specified timeline excludes any duration spent awaiting further information or action from applicants.
