Eric Bibb

Grammy nominee troubador, Eric Bibb, draws listeners in with his beautiful and accomplished soulful folk-blues, melding a traditional rootsy Southern style with a subtle, contemporary
sensibility. Known widely in Europe, it is a treat to have Eric Bibb at The ACT Arts Centre for one of his rare North American performances.
Eric grew up surrounded by major musical figures including father, Leon Bibb, much loved Vancouver musical theatre singer and television personality, uncle, John Lewis, jazz pianist and composer of the Modern Jazz Quartet, and godfather, Paul Robeson, singer, actor, and American civil rights activist. (See Call Mr. Robeson, A Life with Songs page 27).
Rich and sensitive vocals and lyrics provide a perfect balance to his fine finger-picking technique. “House of Blues Radio Hour” host Elwood Blues (a.k.a. Dan Aykroyd) once declared to Eric: “You are what the blues in the new century should be about.”
