Spray Parks

Spray parks and small water play features are usually activated in late May/early June and open from mid-morning until late afternoon to help residents and visitors stay cool during the warmer months. These amenities are usually shut off in September.

Yes. The City uses potable water in spray parks.

Yes. Parents and caregivers are responsible for supervising children at all times.

Children should wear appropriate play clothing, water shoes or non-slip footwear, and sunscreen. Swim diapers are recommended for children who need them.

No. For health and safety reasons and in accordance with Public Places, Parks, and Recreation Facilities Regulation Bylaw (Bylaw No. 7854-2022), pets should not enter the spray pad area. Please follow posted park signage for pet rules in surrounding areas.

 Please report urgent safety concerns to 9-1-1 if there is an emergency. For non-emergency issues such as damage, vandalism, or maintenance concerns, submit a Report a Concern form at MapleRidge.ca/Report or call 604-467-7346 Monday to Friday 8am–4pm. 

Users can start the water features by pressing a button. City spray parks operate on a timer from 10 am to 8 pm.

Spray parks are inspected, cleaned, and maintained regularly during the operating season. City staff inspect each spray park daily prior to it being turned. 

Due to health and safety requirements, City spray parks do not use recirculated water.

Many spray parks are designed with accessibility in mind, including level entry, wide pathways, and features that can be enjoyed by children with a range of abilities. Specific accessibility features vary by location.

Many spray parks are located near public washrooms, change areas, or other park amenities. Please check the Recreation Facilities page for available amenities.

The following rules apply to all City spray parks and small water features:

• Supervise children at all times
• Walk, do not run
• Keep the area clean
• Use washrooms and change facilities as intended
• Keep pets, bikes, scooters, and glass containers out of the spray area
• Follow all posted signs and instructions
   

Yes, provided the space is used respectfully and safely, and younger children and families are considered.

No. City spray parks are not able to be reserved for private events. Nearby picnic shelters, such as at Maple Ridge Park, may be available to reserve. Please refer to our Book a Facility page for more information.
