About Sustainability in Maple Ridge
Sustainability is most commonly defined as ‘meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. At the City of Maple Ridge, we are committed to serving our residents in a manner that ensures prosperity for both present and future generations. Current challenges facing our City include mitigating and adapting to the effects of present and future climate change, addressing challenges our residents face with regards to homelessness and unemployment, and sustainably developing food, water and infrastructure services necessary to meet the needs of a growing urban population.
To address these challenges, the City is taking action through several corporate and community initiatives. However, we cannot do it alone. In order to meet the City’s sustainability goals, we need cooperation and effort from all of our residents. Browse the sections below to learn about what you can do to live sustainably and help your City. Together, we can work towards Maple Ridge’s vision of a socially, environmentally and economically sustainable community now, and in the future.
