Artist in Residence Program Information
The Artist in Residence Program in Maple Ridge provides Canadian artists and artistic teams in all disciplines including writers, composers, visual artists, musicians, poets, choreographers, theatre artists, video, multi-disciplinary and performance artists and from any part of British Columbia or Canada with access to a studio AND/OR live-in residency (duration is typically two to three years). The space is 100% rent subsidized (excluding utilities, insurance, tenant improvements etc.) in exchange for a minimum number of community art engagement hours on approved projects/programs developed in collaboration between staff, artist(s) and community groups/centres.
Every artist in this program:
- offers free art making activities to the public (family friendly and adult oriented) that relate to his/her residency work;
- collaborates with community partners (connect with the artist on how your group, school or organization can get involved)
- participates in some of the many festivals and events throughout the year.
The Artist Residence Program is operated by Maple Ridge Parks, Recreation & Culture which manages parks, facility operations and provides for the delivery of recreation and cultural services in addition to providing opportunities that build individual, neighbourhood and community capacity.
