Help Us Celebrate Maple Ridge & The Arts

The City of Maple Ridge is planning a year of celebrations to mark the City’s 150 years since incorporation. As part of the planning, the City is seeking to create three public art projects with the foundational themes of Celebration, Heritage, and Reconciliation. This Request for Qualifications wishes to identify experienced artists to successfully complete these projects:

Project 1

Community Identifying Murals (2D Artwork) – 4 medium-sized (mobile) murals with community participation that reflect Maple Ridge and its neighbourhoods. These murals would be painted during the spring and summer at neighbourhood events and then showcased at a Maple Ridge 150 event in September 2024

Project 2

Performing Art Placemaking (Performative) – 5 performative art projects by dance and/or theatrical artists that engage and inspire residents. Performances could include Flash Mobs, dance lessons, showcases, and/or creative ways to celebrate MR150 through music, performance and movement.

Project 3

Framing Maple Ridge (3D Artwork) – The installation of 3-4 frames throughout the community that highlight and draw attention to spectacular scenery and our community’s natural beauty. Frames will be installed prior to September 1 and be temporarily placed for an unknown period to determine permanent feasibility.

The deadline for proposals is February 16, 2024.

Stay connected with the City’s social media channels for updates on the Maple Ridge 150 events.
