2024 Property Tax Due Date is July 2, 2024. Please ensure your property taxes are paid and your Home Owner Grant is claimed (if eligible) before the due date to avoid penalties.
Penalties
Any current outstanding balance (including unclaimed Homeowner Grants) on July 3, 2024 will be charged a 5% penalty. An additional 5% penalty will be charged on any current outstanding balance on September 4, 2024.
Penalty Legislation
The City of Maple Ridge is mandated to follow the British Columbia Community Charter - Municipal Tax Regulation. The 10% penalty is set by this charter. Below is a link to the charter.
There is no appeal against the penalty without extraordinary circumstances such as, City Hall strikes or disruptions to normal municipal operation, or natural disasters. Penalty relief must be approved by city council.
