Areas of Concern

Environmental planning services develop and implement programs and policies to preserve and protect the community's rich natural environment. Particular areas of concern include the following:
  • enhancement and restoration
  • environmental assessments and inventory mapping
  • environmental bylaw enforcement
  • environmental permit review for trees, soils, erosion control, hillsides and watercourse management
  • environmental policy and protocol development
  • environmental review to support development applications
  • hazard management
  • natural area preservation
  • public education and outreach
  • rainwater and stormwater management

Environmental Management Strategy Stakeholder Workshop

A Stakeholder workshop was held in December 2012 and a presentation (PDF) on the findings was provided at Council Workshop on February 4, 2013.


Environmental Management Strategy Open House

A public open house was held June 20, 2013 on the Maple Ridge Environmental Management Strategy. If you were unable to attend, you may view the display boards (PDF) as well as the open house presentation (PDF).

At a Council workshop on June 10, 2013, the consultant did a presentation for the Environmental Management Strategy (PDF). The summary report (PDF) from the June 20, 2013 open house is available for viewing.

Environment Management Strategy with Recommendations

  • Recommendations and a PowerPoint presentation (PDF) were reviewed at Council Workshop on March 17, 2014 for Council feedback.
  • Final Environmental Management Strategy Report (PDF).
  • At Council Workshop on November 3, 2014 the Environment Management Strategy Implementation Report (PDF) was presented along with a PowerPoint (PDF).
