TEMPORARY WARMING CENTRE OPEN
Due to this current weather event and cold temperatures, the City has re-opened the daytime warming centre for anyone seeking relief from the cold at the:
- Greg Moore Youth Centre (11925 Haney Place) from 7 AM to 9 PM
- The centre is accessible by transit and open to everyone. Parking is available underground. Staff will provide water, warm drinks, washroom access and seating. Existing programming is not impacted and will continue as scheduled. ALL AGES ARE WELCOME
- The City's recreation facilities are also open during regular operating hours for people to use and stay warm.
- Additional Resources Available
- The Salvation Army is operating a Temporary Winter Shelter in partnership with Ridge Church - open 9 PM to 7 AM and during the day for this weather event. Heaters have also been set up at the Community Resources Hub during operating hours for people to stay warm.
- The City’s Community Safety Officers and Bylaw Officers along with community partners are reaching out to people who are unhoused to do wellness checks and let them know of available resources in the community.
