Official Community Plan

An Official Community Plan (OCP) is one of the City's most important tools. It helps influence the way our community grows and develops by guiding how land can be used. Land use and development influence all parts of our daily lives: where we live, work and play. The Official Community Plan outlines the long term vision for growth and development in Maple Ridge. The Official Community Plan is a living document and is updated as our City grows.

2025 Updates to OCP and Area Plans

Updates to the City's Official Community Plan (OCP) and related area plans (Hammond, Silver Valley, Town Centre) were adopted by Council in November 2025 to meet the Province's December 31, 2025 deadline for local plans to align with provincial housing targets. Updates to the Albion Area Plan were adopted by Council in October 2025.

Recent policy updates support affordable housing, more rental units, adaptable housing, tenant protection, and options for family-sized homes.

Area Plan Update Highlights:
  • Albion: Connecting local businesses and communities with walking and cycling paths.
  • Hammond: Enabling mixed-use, higher-density buildings near transit and protecting jobs.
  • Silver Valley: Creating walkable neighborhoods and simplified zoning for modern development.
  • Town Centre: Expanding growth around transit hubs.

Council and staff continue to advocate for senior government partners to invest in vital infrastructure to support the required growth.
